Katipunan

More than just a major avenue in Quezon City, Katipunan has quickly transformed into a bustling commercial and residential district. Home to the country’s top higher educational facilities including Ateneo de Manila University, Miriam College, and University of the Philippines Diliman, the new Katipunan has so much to offer than a haven of mid-level condos for students who are studying nearby.

The district features heavy motorized vehicle traffic consisting of private vehicles, jeepneys, and UV vans who ply the route.

Majority of the commercial and residential developments in Katipunan are mid-level. But prices for a townhouse for sale in manila near Katipunan are considered great investments at this point. This is because the surrounding communities and villages such as La Vista, Loyola Grand Villas, Varsity Hills, White Plains and Ayala Heights had renewed real estate investors’ interest in the district. Rockwell Land, for example, is just one of several developers who have put into motion turning Katipunan into the next mixed-use township that will be envied. SM and Sta. Lucia are also rolling out real estate plans to capitalize on the commercial and residential space demands.

Katipunan’s best feature is the number of homegrown and specialty stores and shops in the area. As they are truly unique and locally developed, the district is becoming a lifestyle hotspot for people from the south.

Katipunan Extension, for example, garners a lot of interest because of these gastronomic hotspots:

  • Tetsuo, a student favorite for its Signature Fried Chicken and other Japanese-inspired comfort food dishes like Karaage and Soba;

  • La Carnita for its affordable and delicious Mexican favorites;

  • Brickfire, a steak-lover’s haven; and

  • Salt Bakery for some homemade cakes, cookies, brookies, bars, cupcakes and blondies.

The UP Town Center has several restaurants and clothing outlets for some weekend retail therapy and a wide open space in the middle, which are often used for outdoor events.

Local tip: Navigate Katipunan and its 14 food parks(!) for that full, one-of-a-kind gastronomic experience. Popular ones include StrEAT Maginhawa Food Park and Merkanto: International Street Food Hall.
