Calamba, or known simply as Calamba City is a 1st class city in the province of Laguna, Philippines. Calamba used to be a part of Tabuco, which is now known as Cabuyao.

Considered as the “Hot Spring Capital of the Country", Calamba City continues to develop certain investments to food establishments, commercial complexes and resorts are good in the city. Calamba is also known as the birthplace of the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.

Calamba is the birthplace of our national hero, Jose Rizal. That is why there are multiple shrines and statues built to commemorate him. The Rizal Shrine houses a small museum with the national hero’s memorabilia such as his famous revolutionary books which are the Noli Me Tangere and the El Filibusterismo. It is a replica of the original as it has burned down.

Located at The Plaza, the Rizal Statue is a 22 feet tall monument built to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Dr. José Rizal. Calamba Church, also known as the St. John the Baptist Church is a historic church where the National Hero Jose Rizal was baptized. It was built in 1859 during the Spanish colonial era.

When visiting Rizal Shrine, avoid scheduling your trip too close to the 30th of December. Chances are shrine is closed to the public.

Calamba is a major transport hub for provincial buses. Bus terminals around Calamba include the Turbina bus station in Maharlika Highway, Turbina. Manila-bound buses stop at the Flying V gas station while buses bound for Batangas, Quezon, and Bicol region are on the opposite side of Maharlika Highway. Another is SM City Calamba Transport Terminal which is a part of SM City Calamba.
