Last November 21 the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Department of Information and Communication Technology,  QBO Philippines, and various community enablers organized the country's first nationwide conference with simultaneously occurring events showcasing the Filipino Startup Community called Philippine Startup Week 2019.

The event started at 9 am at Crowne Plaza, Ortigas with a total of 40 Tech Advantage startup companies including Signet Properties. The event not only created an avenue to introduce Signet Properties but to assist these 40 startup companies.  The first couch discussion was about Teching Up for Good: Improving wellbeing through technology, with DICT USEC Elise M. Rio Jr., Angkas CEO Angeline Tham, Jove Tapidor of Finetech PH, Brad Geiser of Geiser Maclang Marketing Communications and Edwardo Gutierrez of Sprout Solutions.

The second discussion with DICT ICT Industry Development Bureau Director III Rior Santos, Eduard Gutierrez and Derek Albanese of Sprout Solutions Inc., and Tagcash Founder Mark Vernon was focused on Teching up Entrepreneurs: Powering up Entrepreneurs with Technology,

The third talk was about Teching Up Government: Government initiatives to Tech Up with Ron Aquino and JC Principe of MYEG PH, Arlene Romasanta of DICT and Tagcash Founder Mark Vernon.

And the fourth discussion with Edison Tsai of SeedIn, Monica Aguilar of the Final Pitch, Erika of Unionbank, Lowell Campbell of Internation Finance Corporation and Atty. Mark Gorriceta of Gorriceta Africa Cauton & Saavedra was on discussing the business expansion through tech from a larger scale to local or regional and vice versa.

What struck me the most is when I heard the value of people tech in improving the culture of human management in companies. "Improving the culture" is one of the highlights of what Signet Properties integrates as a company. To improve our culture in the company we first learn the importance of team culture, see our article on team culture (insert link). Another key takeaway is that "reputation perceives revenue". In which it was highlighted that the Philippines should understand the driving force that is nation branding. This then leads to the question of how can the Philippines position itself as a technology and a startup hub in the ASEAN.

This event was a wonderful opportunity to showcase Signet Properties. Thanks to the organizers, newly established companies have a chance to promote what they do that can help people in whatever they are looking for.
